Sand sand everywhere

                     *from STONES HILL SONGS*

This easy-to-learn song takes us to the beach, a favourite trip for many children as it offers up a palette of rich, playful sensory experiences. Using traditional echo-style singing, the teacher leads line by line, to be copied by the children.

Each line has an accompanying move, a 'bodymind' move which develops sensory awareness. Singing it twice through gives more time to settle into the move. Find a comfortable flow, using a gentle pace. The moves are designed to be deeply integrating, involving both cerebral hemispheres, crossing the midline and using both sides of the body.

Have fun with the statue building: make up your own ideas, as many as you want; pick children to demonstrate a statue for all to copy; play with the voice, alternating between song and speech. Keep the last bit deliberately slow with clear moves as some children will fall out their trees to jump in crazily and knock it flat!

          Sand sand everywhere
Gonna build my castle over her
I'll shape like this and shape like that
I'll use my hands to pat it flat
Mmmm...stand back take a look at that
I'll jump right in and knock it flat!
